If I were to use just one word to describe my current work, this is it.

I am working hard to break free from all constraints and expectations, and this moment right here is where it happens.

As my hand starts dancing around the canvas, the world goes silent, and me, the canvas, and the tool in my hand become one and the same.

Hello my dears,

I'm sharing a little more of my current process.

This is where I add bolder marks on top of the base layer with acrylic paint and gradually build the final composition.

Intuition and free movements continue to be in the centre of this process - you can see me looking away from my hand as I make a mark. I do this consciously to avoid any control over the stroke.

A little more of my process. 👐 I paint on raw

A little more of my process. 👐

I paint on raw cotton canvas, which I stretch myself - you can see a bit of that in this video.

At the moment, I like to paint on an unstretched canvas pinned to a wall, and stretch it once I'm happy with it.

This works for me because:

1. I can start a new painting pretty much straight away when I feel inspired,

2. if the painting doesn't work out, I'm not losing time stretching & unstretching - sometimes I like parts of the painting, but it doesn't work as a whole, so I cut it up into smaller works and stretch these,

3. I can put a lot of pressure into my marks, without the stretcher bars getting in the way,

4. I don’t have tons of unused stretcher bars lying around as I only buy the right sizes for the finished pieces (I have some old ones lying around - mostly small formats, which, as you might know, I don't like to do very much 🙃).

I'll share more of this finished painting soon. ✌️

Music has always been a huge part of my life. A way to feel what I needed to feel, to describe what I couldn't put into words, to make me feel like I'm not alone in this world.

It's fascinating how someone you never met can capture your deepest feelings so perfectly, isn't it?

That's why art is so important. Because through it, we can feel, know we are not alone, and hopefully, eventually, heal. 🤍

So thank you to all artists everywhere, doing their thing. And thank you to everyone who pays attention. 🙏
